Update (June 3, 2022): LUNA unlocked airdrop based on the post-attack screenshot, per Terra Ecosystem Reactivation Plan, is on its way. All eligible clients will receive an email confirming that funds have been deposited into their LUNA wallets.

Update (June 2, 2022): At Bitpanda, the safety of the community and its assets is paramount. Bitpanda stores user funds in a highly secure offline storage environment and have received the full amount of LUNA for all airdrop eligible users based on pre-attack screenshots, subject to the Reactivation Plan conditions of the Terra Ecosystem. Bitpanda promises to distribute these funds immediately, but it is not yet possible as they are currently blocked by Terra under the terms of the airdrop distribution plan. What happened to Terra (LUNA)?

On May 9, 2022, the original Terra blockchain crashed after its TerraUSD stablecoin was de-pegged from the US dollar and TerraUSD and its sister coin, formerly known as Terra (LUNA), experienced severe price declines.

On May 25, 2022, the Terra community approved the genesis of a new blockchain called Terra 2.0 in governance proposal 1623, including the distribution of the LUNA genesis via airdrop to original chain users. Terra Classic.

The new chain will be called Terra 2.0 and the new chain’s staking asset will be called LUNA. According to official information, unlike the original chain, the new Terra 2.0 chain will not have stablecoins.

To minimize confusion at an already confusing time, we will refer to the new chain as Terra 2.0 and the new asset as Luna (LUNA).

What should I know about the new LUNA token?

The original chain is still active and has been renamed to Terra Classic. The Terra Classic token, formerly known as Terra (LUNA), has been rebranded and is now Terra Classic (LUNC). Terra stablecoins have also changed names and are now called Terra Classic stablecoins: for example, TerraUSD (UST) became TerraClassicUSD (USTC), TerraEUR (EUT) became TerraClassicEUR (EUTC), etc.

How do I receive the LUNA airdrop?

The new Terra 2.0 LUNA token will be distributed to all eligible users once Bitpanda successfully receives the LUNA tokens issued by the Terra project team. Detailed information will be provided as soon as it is available.
