The Financial Services Authority (FSA) was the regulatory body in the United Kingdom responsible for overseeing the financial services industry from 2001 to 2013. It was responsible for regulating a wide range of financial firms, including banks, insurance companies, investment firms, and mortgage providers.
The FSA’s primary objectives were to maintain market confidence, promote public awareness of the financial system, protect consumers, and reduce financial crime. It set regulatory standards, enforced compliance with those standards, and took enforcement action against firms that breached them.
