Sometimes it can happen that when you try to make a purchase with a credit card, it is rejected.

Below you can find the most common reasons for a credit card to be declined:

You have used an unsupported credit card (at the moment it is possible to make purchases only with Master Card or Visa).

Your credit card does not support “3D Secure” (3D Secure is a security procedure where the card issuer determines if it is you who is actually trying to make the purchase). To find out if your card is 3D Secure compliant, you need to contact your credit/debit card provider directly. Some banks will require multiple security steps to authorize a 3D Secure purchase (text message, bank-provided security card, or security questions).

Your bank does not allow Cryptocurrency purchases with a credit card. In this case, kindly contact your issuing bank and ask if it is possible to enable Cryptocurrency purchases.

You are not the owner of the Credit Card (The name of the cardholder must be the same as that of your Kriptomat account).

The card you are trying to use has been reported lost or stolen.

Your credit card does not accept online purchases.

The transaction was rejected by our Risk Management department. In some cases, it may happen that after a brief internal investigation our Risk Management team decides that the credit card should be declined for security reasons. You can try the transaction again with the same card after waiting 24 hours, or immediately try with another card.

If you think that none of the reasons mentioned above is related to your card being declined, contact Kriptomat’s support team.
